Good evening, Laker families! Here is the link to this week's newsletter: https://app.smore.com/n/6kxc7 We’ve got a full week of events planned. First up—it’s Homecoming Spirit Week! Tomorrow is Pajama Day, but just a reminder: no house shoes or blankets are allowed. Wednesday Sept 9 is Laker Pride Day and it is also our tailgate after school. The $10 tickets sold last week include food, activities, the Gamerz Truck, and entrance into the girls basketball game. If your child wants to buy Kona Ice or participate in the teacher dunking booth, they’ll need to bring a little extra money. Students will stay after school for the tailgate. If your child is not attending the basketball game, please plan to pick them up between 5:00 and 5:15 PM at the Youth Service Center entrance, which is located just past the gym and cafeteria doors. If your child is staying for the basketball game, pickup should be at WHMS no later than 7:45. Our homecoming event will take place between 6th and 8th grade games. Please note that after 4 PM, all administrators will be outside supervising students who are staying for after-school events. If you call the front office and don’t receive an answer, we recommend contacting your child directly on their phone. If your child normally doesn’t bring a phone to school, this would be a good day for them to have it—not for use during the school day, but to help with communication during the tailgate and basketball game and coordinate pickup. Another very important event is happening this day, September 9th—it’s High Attendance Day across our district! We’ve been celebrating meeting our attendance goals almost every day since school started, and we’re so proud of our students for showing up. Wednesday is a big one—we’re aiming to be the #1 school in Hardin County for attendance, which means we need at least 98% of our students present. That’s only about 10 students absent to reach our goal! To celebrate, we’ll have lots of prizes and giveaways, including Taco Bell meals, Dairy Queen treats, Laker milkshakes, and more. Plus, students will be allowed to use their phones during lunch on Tuesday. Lastly, Progress Reports for Trimester 1 went home this past Friday. We hope your child shared that important information with you! This week’s parent newsletter includes helpful info about how to request your Parent Portal login, and more. Thursday’s theme is you’ve got a friend in me twin day and Friday is USA red white and blue in honor of 9-11. Thank you so much for your continued support. We’re looking forward to a great—and busy—week ahead!

The Hardin County Schools Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council is collecting items to brighten the lives of local homebound residents and those in long-term care facilities.

A collection bin has been placed at each school in the district. Students, staff, families, parents and community members are encouraged to bring items that would help bring a smile to senior citizens. The collection drive will last from April 21 to May 5, 2026. Go to the News and Announcements section of www.hardin.kyschools.us for a list of items and for more information.
