Hello, Laker Families! I’m Christin Swords, proud Principal of West Hardin Middle School.

Welcome to West Hardin- where pride runs deep, relationships matter, and every student is part of our Laker family. As we enter the 2026–2027 school year, we are honored to welcome your child into a school community built on care, connection, and high expectations. This is our final year in the building so many Lakers have called home, and we’re excited to fill it with meaningful moments, strong learning experiences, and the kind of energy that reminds everyone why West Is Best.

Our mission is to provide strong, student‑centered instruction every day. This year, we’re getting back to what makes learning powerful: students talking with one another, working through ideas, and engaging directly with their teachers. That means less time on devices and more time in collaborative, hands‑on learning that builds real understanding. We are proud to offer honors courses in several content areas, along with programs that build leadership and real‑world skills, including our new Agriculture program with FFA and our second year of JROTC. With a wide range of classes, clubs, and extracurricular opportunities, every student can explore their interests, discover their strengths, and find their place at West Hardin.

The strength of our school comes from the partnership we share with our families and community.
